#PrayerForTheWeek – Rest

Heavenly Father, instead of working harder, and pushing further to achieve more, help us to seek rest and guidance in You through prayer.

Mark 1:35

In the morning, rising up a great while before sunrise, He went out and departed to a solitary place. And there He prayed.

Happy song!

Zephaniah 3:17-18

For the Lord your God has arrived to live among you. He is a mighty Savior. He will give you victory. He will rejoice over you with great gladness; He will love you and not accuse you.” Is that a joyous choir I hear? No, it is the Lord Himself exulting over you in happy song.
“I have gathered your wounded and taken away your reproach.

Instead of assuming that your plans are near to what God desires, seek instead to be in God’s plan.

Psalm 73:16, 20, 27-28

Yet it is so hard to explain it—this prosperity of those who hate the Lord. Their present life is only a dream! They will awaken to the truth as one awakens from a dream of things that never really were! But those refusing to worship God will perish, for He destroys those serving other gods. But as for me, I get as close to Him as I can! I have chosen Him, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful ways He rescues me.

Meditation Moment: Seek to hear the voice of God.

Stop worrying, and listen carefully for God’s voice. But remember that He speaks softly. If your thoughts are too noisy, you will not hear Him. We tend to have many things to think about: school, work, traffic, homework, projects, bills, family, friends, what to wear, what to say, what to do…the list goes on and on. All those thoughts start bouncing around in your mind, zig-zagging all over the place – until the “noise” they make drowns out God’s voice.

You’ll never hear Him above all that confusion. That is why He gave you a special gift- His Spirit inside you. Ask His Spirit to quiet your thoughts so that you can hear His. Then sit peacefully in His Presence – letting His thoughts become yours.

Isaiah 55:12
For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Spend time in God’s Word & learn the sound of His voice.
